Katsina to host 2022 Governors’ Golf Cup tournament

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has assured of his readiness and support for Katsina Golf Club to host the 2022 Governors’ Golf Cup in the state.

The Governor gave the assurance when he received the newly elected executives of the club, led by its captain, Professor Mu’uta Ibrahim to the state government house on a courtesy visit Tuesday.

Masari also promised to provide the club with casual labourers for sustainable maintenance of the golf pitch.
He noted that the State’s Commissioner of Sports would be intimated on the decision for further action.”

Speaking earlier, the club’s captain, Prof. Ibrahim Mu’uta, said the visit was to officially introduce the newly elected executive members of the club to the State Governor and “to intimate the Governor of the club’s plan to host for the third time the Governors’ Cup Golf tournament in the state.”

Captain Mu’uta, also commended the State Governor for his continuous support to the club, recalling all the support the club received toward hosting the second golf tournament in the state previously.

However, the Katsina Golf Club Captain solicited the support of the Governor in “employing at least eight casual staff, who will be maintaining the fairways, bunkers and keeping the general cleanliness of the course and its safety,” saying that the “annual checkup dues collected from the club members could not adequately carter for the upkeep of the pitch and other club activities.”

Other members of the Katsina Golf Club delegation on the courtesy visit to the Governor include: Major General Junaidu Bindawa (Rtd), Dr. Abduljalil Abdullahi, Alhaji Hassan Abdul’aziz (Sarkin Bai),* Umar Yakubu, Jamilu Ahmed and Usman Bara’u.
